Hey everyone. This is Raz-mod, and I'd like to talk to you all about the state of the game.

We're coming up on our fifth anniversary, and... well, suffice it to say, the game isn't in the best shape it's ever been. There are some serious issues, and we need to address them. That's why we're reaching out to you, the players, to help us figure out how we can fix these issues and make it so Dive can continue on into the future as long as it possibly can.

This will be no small undertaking. There may be massive, potentially even difficult changes as we go forward. It may change how we approach everything from here on out, as far as plot, characters, and management are concerned. However, when talking about this, I would like to make something clear.

This is not about pointing fingers. There have been areas where we've erred along the way, and areas where we've been lacking. I speak in that context as both a moderator and as a member of the community itself. Right now, it'd be best if we focused on what we can do to improve Dive and get it back on the right track, rather than being hung up on what could have been. That's not to say I want us to ignore areas where we can improve, but I don't want this to be about calling anyone out.

So, we're going to be doing this three different ways, depending on what makes you as individuals feel most comfortable. First off, there will be this thread, where you can post publicly, a thread where you can submit your thoughts on this matter privately to the mods, and a third venue where you can email us directly. I'm willing to receive the emails personally, so please send them to razorsawtf[at]gmail[dot]com. You may also feel free to directly PM the mod account.

Additionally, we have a poll in thise thread whose results will be entirely anonymous, where you can pick a result that best fits your thoughts about how Dive is doing.

In summation, I'd just like to say, Dive is very special to me, and I'd like to continue on as long as we can. I believe in this game, and I'm confident we can overcome these issues and make things work. We can't do it without you guys, and really... I believe in you all too.

- Raz

Hey everyone. I hope you're all enjoying the Disney Virus so far. However, there's a small concern we'd like to address.

The number of youtube embeds are making it hard for some posters to load the main comm. That's why we'd like to ask everyone to put their songs/YT embeds behind a cut.

Thank you all for your understanding, and we hope that you keep the music playing. :)

Oh, and by the way. If you'd like a break from the gloom and doom of pending war, we've got just the thing for that!

Starting Sunday, June 24th and running until Saturday, June 30th we will be having the revival of the Disney Virus!

What is this, you might ask, had you not been here for one before? It's quite simple - just as one would in classic Disney movies, your characters can, at any given time, break out into spontaneous song and dance numbers. Completely with an unseen orchestra that can somehow be heard but never found, back up dancers, ETC.

This virus is always generally a lot of fun, so look forward to it. :D

Hey, hey, hey!

We're working out the logs to get going for the liberation of a couple villages on the outskirts of the Dark Area now, using the previous organization post as a basis. I'm here to inform you how it's going to be going down.

Each village will be divided into two threads - one for the Distraction Team, and one for the Rescue Team. For the Distraction Team it'll just be a matter of fighting to pull Virus Buster forces away. Absolute defeat of their enemies isn't necessary, merely the act of holding them off for awhile. The Rescue Teams will meanwhile move to execute their plans to get citizens from the village.

So that we don't have to worry as much about tag orders and in the interest of moving things along in the threads, we'll be using a tagging system similar to what was utilized during the Chaosmon battle.

So here's a refresher:

-The threads will be led by [Green Tags] and [Red Tags.]
-When a Green Tag is up in any particular thread, tagging can commence off that Green Tag only. Multiple people can tag off the same tag, and there's no need to maintain an order unless, obviously, you are responding to one another directly. This being a more focused event where interaction is necessary, this clearly may happen more than during Chaosmon's fight.
-When the Red Tag goes up, advancement of the scene stops. Between this Red Tag and the next Green Tag, NPC and moderator actions will be taken to advance the log. When the next Green Tag goes up, you lather, rinse, and repeat.
-In this log, all major NPC actions will be controlled by moderators. Primarily in this case it will be J, Razorsaw, and Ken. This especially applies to Virus Buster troops. Unlike the Chaosmon Wraith Army, all Virus Buster reactions to attacks and their own retaliation will be controlled by us.

The example of how this may work is as follows:Example )

Luckily, this will be much easier to distinguish with Dreamwidth and having subject lines, as opposed to how it went on LJ.

As this is a chaotic situation, victory is not promised.

As well, there is going to be some room for a couple wild cards to enter the scene, possibly. It will depend on how the scenes advance and the situations the teams find themselves in. This will require you approach moderators directly. Keep in mind that only a few of these will be allowed.

The updates keep rolling in! These are of the DATS related variety.

First off, we have the new [personal profile] dats account, which will be used for matters related to the titular organization.

Secondly, we now have a FAQ about the organization and the details surrounding it.

Thirdly, we also have a roster of the various DATS members and the divisions they belong to.

Fourth, and perhaps most importantly, there is now an IC application to fill out if you wish to have a character join DATS. Basically, we're formalizing it now so it's easier to keep track of. Basically, have your character reply to the post and we'll get back to you with the details of their induction into the organization.

That's all folks!

Just letting everyone know there's a massively important plotting post up at the plots comm.
[personal profile] digitaldivemods
Hey, sportsfans. Just letting everyone know about about a policy update.

The mods have decided, after deliberating stuff about the game in terms of abilities, what does and doesn't work in game, and judging it versus what we've already allowed into the game... that we are going to be considering characters who would be bringing piloted mecha into the game. In short, for those of you that would like to apply for such a character, the possibility of them getting in with their machine is now on the table.

That said, there will be limitations for this, and they will be subject to particular scrutiny and special conditions. This will also be judged in comparison to any other abilities your character might have, so some things may not make it through the vetting process.

For those of you with characters already in the game who would have such a device, we're giving you a free "voucher" to make the case for your character's suit/mech/high-tech prosthesis-es to be added to the game in lieu of doing an app addendum. All you need to do is talk to us, the moderators, and we'll be happy to work with you about whether or not and how the suit would work in game.

Hello there, Dive! This is a note to tell you all that D-ARC, or Dive Activity Roll Call, will be going up a few hours earlier (right before I go to work at 4:30PM PST) due to my work schedule. You are free to respond to the D-ARC if you'd like to at the time that it goes up, and it will still count as your activity for the half-year; however, it will OFFICIALLY begin at Midnight, Eastern Standard Time.

Also, apologies for the short notice, but I forgot to clarify something that should be common sense on the previous D-ARC reminder post, and I think I need to clarify that right now.

Remember this clause here?

3. FOR THIS D-ARC ONLY, if you have a character who has NOT had any activity at all, we're willing to give a pass just this once and say that they have been data frozen since the move. This will only be good for this D-ARC, though! After this D-ARC, if your character doesn't have proof of activity without hiatus-inducing circumstances (which will be figured out before the next D-ARC, along with an official hiatus and drop post for convenience), they will not pass the D-ARC and will therefore be dropped from the game.

It's still in place. But only for characters who were in the game before the move. If you have a character who was applied for and approved after the move, the data freeze clause would not apply to them at all, and they will have to show proof of activity in order to continue playing here without having to re-apply.

This ALSO applies to characters who were adopted and re-booted. If you have a character that you adopted from someone else and rebooted, they will not be covered under the data freeze clause, since they are essentially considered to be a new character at that point.

Thanks, Dive! ♥ Keep rockin'!

Goooood Evening, Digital Dive! I'm a little bit late in getting this up due to my work schedule, but as of Friday, May 25, 2012 there is officially one week until the start of the official Dive Activity Roll Call, or D-ARC.

Again, you may pelt me with rotten tomatoes for the ever-appropriate acronym.

Anyhoot! Here's a reminder of some of the changes we've made to D-ARC, but also a few things that may be a saving grace since this is the first time that we're actually enforcing proof of activity in addition to just a response to the D-ARC post.

So, here are the things to know about D-ARC!

1. D-ARC will run for two weeks, from June 1st, 2012 @ Midnight EST, to June 15th, 2012 @ Midnight EST.

2. A post will go up either shortly before or exactly at that time (depending on my work schedule, seeing as my job has proven they will change my schedule with or without telling me) for everyone to respond to with their characters and a link to at least one thing that character has done during the past several months. This can be a comment, a log, a network post, a comment thread, etc, etc. It's really very simple.

4. And now, we will have an example of the form you all will be using for D-ARC!

This cut bounces, unlike certain characters we know ~ )

And there you have it! Bear in mind that this post is not the post to be posting these things. This is just an example for when the time comes.

So with that said, this is your D-ARC heads up! As always, questions can be directed at the modtypes. Don't be shy, we don't bite. ♥
[personal profile] digitaldivemods
Hey everyone. Just letting you know/reminding you that the Chibi Virus is live, and that it will be running from now till May 22nd.
[personal profile] digitaldivemods
Good Morning, Dive!

Does anybody remember when I Emphasized the use of the community tags back in February, stating that they would come in handy for the next Dive Activity Roll Call? Well, D-Arc is coming up on June 1st, 2012, and I'm here a couple weeks early to give a heads up about the changes, and why the tag system would help with them.

The general run-down of the D-Arc is as follows:

1. The D-Arc will run for two weeks; from Midnight EST of June 1st, 2012, to Midnight EST of June 15th, 2012.*

* Considering my work schedule usually has me working during this time, if I AM working on the night before D-Arc, the post itself may go up a couple of hours beforehand so that I can get it up before I go to work. Regardless, the D-Arc officially begins at Midnight EST on June 1st.

2. During this time, you, the mun, will comment to the D-Arc post with your list of characters and one link to proof that they have been at least somewhat active during the past six months. This can be a link to anywhere on the [community profile] digital_dive or [community profile] dive_logs communities, and activity can consist of something as small as one comment, even. This isn't that difficult to do, which is why we feel okay with announcing this on such short notice, not to mention there have been about six months where you've had the opportunity to get characters in on things.

3. After the D-Arc begins, activity links dated after the start of the D-Arc will not be accepted as valid activity. Again, there have been six months prior to this to get some form of activity in.

That's all! As always, questions and comments can always be brought to the modfolk regarding anything at all. ♥ Have a wonderful day, Digital Dive!

Hey everyone. Just letting you know that Digital Dive will be taking part in this round of [personal profile] app_this_plz. What does this mean?

If you have any characters you want to see someone apply for in the game, list them here, and we'll post them, along with others, over at app_this_plz. If there's anyone you want to see, anyone at all, just mention them here and we'll put them all up in one big post over there.

So, give us some names and series, folks!

There is also this plurk if you'd rather do this there.

So, hey. VIRUS TIME.

As we get back into the swing of things here on Dreamwidth, we're planning out more virus events for the coming months. But for the moment, here's an oldie, but a traditional one.

The Love Virus starts today, March 14th, it being White Day, and will run through Sunday, March 18th.

Characters will, by choice, be afflicted by feelings of love and affection that can range from perfectly innocent feelings of, "I LOVE EVERYTHING AND THE WHOLE WORLD IS SUNSHINE AND RAINBOWS" to, well... other ends of that spectrum that I likely don't have to detail out here.

All standard Rules still apply, of course~

Regardless, have fun. More stuff coming up (especially once Ken is on vacation and has all the time in the world to do whatever.)

So.

[community profile] digital_dive, which now takes over for your individual journals in posting to the D-Comm Network, and [community profile] dive_logs are now back and open for business.

BASICALLY, again, things have gone like this: Due to personal complications and technical difficulties, we aren't yet done with the Chaosmon battle, though it only has a round or two left. We'll be finishing it as soon as we can, but in the meantime, all a lot of characters will need to know is the basics.

The basics being, through the combined power of the Zero ARMS (constituting the Orochi Cannon, the Halberd, the Garuru Cannon, and the Omega Sword) and the strength of the Tamers on hand, Chaosmon was defeated. While the Halberd remains under command of the Dai-Gurren Brigade, with Simon now its Captain after Meta Knight's death, Area Leader Susanoomon has retained possession of the Orochi Cannon. The Omega Sword - now powerless - is being held temporarily by Witchenly, while the Garuru Cannon has been lost in the Net Ocean's waters. Where has it gone? Well... that will come to pass when the time is right.

For the Tamers, and their partners, they have all been data frozen for a week solid. This happened once Chaosmon fell. Witchenly has initiated barriers to protect all frozen Tamers & Partners for the past week, but as of now, those barriers are no longer active. Your Tamers (and their partners) could now re-appear anywhere in the Digital World, the same as when they were first applied for... however! Remember that they retain all injuries from the chaotic events that took place a week ago. For their bodies and minds, it's like only a couple seconds passed. So keep that in mind. If you want to have them just appear back somewhere safe and sound, that's perfectly fine~

Your characters can come out of the freeze all at once, or one at a time. Up to you.

DATS, however, will be flinging the doors open to its medical ward. (It's already open to the public at all times, but they'll be really encouraging it in this event.) Its staff is well versed in human medicine and healing, so if you've gotten banged around real hard, you might want to consider a stay there.

Structural damage to buildings and landscape from Chaosmon unearthing himself has been repaired - except for the obvious case of Draco Island. As it was consumed by Chaosmon, it no longer is present in this world. All that remains is a crater in the ground, which has since filled with water in the past week.

We are also now initiating a new Tag System on both [community profile] digital_dive and [community profile] dive_logs. Most character tags have already been set in, and I'll let our lovely [personal profile] tacos_of_doom explain this with some liberal cutting & pasting...

Follow the bouncing Taco! )

Note that we haven't gotten location tags up just yet - give us a little time, though. We encourage you to use these tags, as it'll allow both us and you an easier time keeping track of things!

Otherwise, thank you all for your patience and encouragement this past month or so! Have fun!

EDIT - Oh, and everyone will now find their D-Comms updated to the 2.0 design as seen in the last updates, and all Tamer Classes approved have been put into effect.

The Xros Tamer Class is going to be undergoing some changes here pretty much as soon as mods sign off on them.

Effectively, once we've seen people putting their applications together, we've realized a few things that were either not explained well enough, or elements which are causing confusion or unnecessary frustration. Obviously, it's designed as a more advanced class, and thus has some inherent, intentional difficulties attached to it for that reason... but unnecessary frustrations are an entirely different matter.

As well, in its current state, it could potentially play more havoc than intended on the general power balance, so we're re-evaluating some matters with it.

We'll have updates on this ASAP. Just bear in mind you may have to make some changes if you're already working on it. And deepest apologies in advance to Tsumi, as well.
